You've learned to produce a video or audio report, post a blog and tell your story in new and different ways. Now what? How can these tools work together so you can best tell your story and engage audiences?

- Leverage reader/audience input and feedback

- How to know when to Tweet, FB or Pinterest?

- Sourcing stories and breaking news via the social crowd

Dan Moulthrop, Chief Executive Officer of The City Club will lead the workshop.

Dan is an award winning journalist, entrepreneur, and a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. The former host of 90.3 WCPN's Sound of Ideas, Dan left ideastream in 2010 to co-found The Civic Commons,

www.theciviccommons.com, a social media environment designed explicitly for civic conversation and deliberative dialogue.

As Curator of Conversation at The Civic Commons, Dan has worked to Promote "social media for civic good." By using emerging technologies the team at Civic Commons has successfully brought disparate communities together to make change. Dan helped to create a space where citizens could connect directly with public officials and experts to address community issues, brainstorm solutions and coordinate plans to implement change.

While at ideastream, Dan hosted, Sound of Ideas, a daily public affairs show aired every weekday at 9:00am. Dan's vision was to create a "town hall of the airwaves," and he did so by making space for civil civic dialogue on the radio on a daily basis. Dan helped to build a social media presence for the program by connecting live conversations through social media and video.

Dan is also the co-author, with Dave Eggers and Nínive Calegari, of the best selling book Teachers Have it Easy: The Big Sacrifices and Small Salaries of America's Teachers (The New Press, 2005), which provided the basis for the 2011 documentary American Teacher.
