Sept. 10 Event with Facebook Strategist, Plus Updates from Press Club

Dear Friends of The Press Club:

It’s been a busy summer for The Press Club of Cleveland, and I wanted to share a few quick updates ...

Mark your calendars: Sept. 10 event with Facebook strategist

Make plans to join The Press Club of Cleveland for “Cocktails and Conversation with Facebook Content Strategist Jonathon Colman” on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, 6:30 p.m. at a downtown Cleveland location to be determined. Colman will be in town for the blockbuster Content Marketing World conference presented by Cleveland's own Content Marketing Institute, which was founded by Press Club board member Joe Pulizzi.

At the Sept. 10 Press Club event, Colman will talk about building an integrated content strategy and take plenty of Q&A. Jonathon tackled the topic of content marketing for speakers during a CM World Twitter chat on July 22. Follow #cmworld to check out the conversation if you weren't able to be there live.

Watch email for additional details and a registration link for the Sept. 10 event. Special thanks to Joe and his team, who have worked with Press Club program chair Kathleen Osborne to enable Colman to offer this event to Press Club members and their guests. A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated in Colman’s honor to the Kent State University School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

RNC event

On just a few days notice, the club brought together an all-star panel of people involved with bringing the Republican National Convention to Cleveland. More than 90 people gathered at the Union Club to hear them July 17. It was covered by WKYC Channel 3 (click HERE), The Plain Dealer (click HERE) and the Cleveland Jewish News (click HERE). A Wall Street  Journal reporter attended and plans to write about Cleveland in the near future.

Special thanks to Business Wire for sponsoring the event. Because of their support, we were able to keep the price low and attract a large, diverse crowd. Special thanks to Press Club VP Russ Mitchell of WKYC for moderating, the entire Press Club Board for helping bring it all together, and to our ongoing Corporate Partners, First Energy and Medical Mutual of Ohio.

Other news:

  • The Press Club’s Cleveland Journalism Hall of Fame Committee met recently to select inductees and the Chuck Heaton Award Winner. Watch for details of the honorees and of the event which will be held this fall.

  • The Press Club and Tri-C will again present a “Behind the Headlines” event this fall. Committee members are finalizing details.
  • So much for “summer vacation.” Thanks for your ongoing interest in Cleveland and The Press Club.
